Courtesy Pay

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but for convenience KCFCU pays the transaction anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in three different ways.

  • Standard Courtesy Pay practices that come with your account, as outlined below.
  • Overdraft Line of Credit, which maybe less expensive.
  • Linking your checking account to another account (such as your savings) with an automatic transfer of funds if you overdraft. A $5 per transfer fee applies.

KCFCU offers Courtesy Pay (overdraft protection) as a convenience to protect you against high fees and embarrassment associated with “bounced checks" or having your purchases declined. Courtesy Pay allows you to make purchases even if you have insufficient funds in your account. It can also serve as an emergency back up allowing you to use your account in an emergency even if you don’t have enough money in your account.

How Courtesy Pay Works — Rather than automatically returning your unpaid overdraft items or being declined when trying to make a purchase KCFCU will authorize and pay your reasonable overdrafts, as long as you maintain your account in good standing.

Standard Overdraft Practices — We do authorize and pay overdrafts for checks and automatic bill payments. We do not authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM or everyday debit card transactions, unless you give us consent by clicking on the sign up button below

What Courtesy Pay Costs — There are no monthly maintenance fees! There are no set-up charges! You only pay if, and when, you actually use the service. A $30 Courtesy Pay fee applies each time we pay an overdraft. Having Courtesy Pay does not guarantee that KCFCU will pay your overdrafts. If we decide to pay an overdraft, you will be charged a fee as described above. However if we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

I want KCFCU to authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions.
